Funny how things come full circle! Years ago when I was but 17 years old I won a nationwide UK scholarship to drama school from the theatre and TV publication The Stage. Cut to the present day and I here's an interview I did with them about the success of The Order 1886, making the game and how it is to work in the field of big budget video games and Mocap.
Check it out at the link below.... https://www.thestage.co.uk/features/interviews/2015/steve-west-actor/ I recently sat down and chatted with the Agents of Geek (love that name!) about creating Galahad, those funny suits, Audie nominations and even good old Chucky the killer doll.
Finally its the worldwide release of The Order 1886! Years in the making and the culmination of much blood, sweat and tears all round. Check out the link to see our interviews as talk about our roles and the making of this incredible project.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ia_fZ7uSkLc Seems they're loving The Order 1886 back home in the UK. We rocketed straight to number one in the game's chart! Very proud!
http://www.dualshockers.com/2015/02/23/the-order-1886-takes-top-spot-in-uk-sales-charts/ Audio interview for The Order 1886. Hear all about the two year process of becoming Galahad, performance capture and the making of this epic new game from Sony & Ready At Dawn!
http://www.dualshockers.com/2015/02/19/the-order-1886-the-actor-behind-galahad-talks-about-bringing-the-grizzled-knight-to-life-on-ps4/ … So finally I can officially announce the project I've been working on for well over two years now! The Order 1886 comes out this Friday, February 20th. We began filming the motion capture for this back at the end of 2012 and have been sworn to secrecy until now. I play Galahad (second from the left in the picture) the character who's identity you actually take on when you play the game. Its one of the most highly anticipated games of the year and I'm honoured to be a part of it all. Check out the link. There'll be more press to follow as we launch Friday!
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/02/17/finding-the-cast-of-the-order-1886-on-ps4/#sf7498727 Two nominations for The Audie Awards 2015!! The Audies are The Oscars of the audiobook world, dedicated to awards for exceptional work in the spoken word field from all the releases of the previous year. My recording of The Accidental Highwayman is a finalist in the Teen section and The Anatomy Lesson is up for the title of best Multi Voiced Performance! Other names up for awards include Oprah Winfrey, Alan Cumming, Amy Poehler, Patrick Stewart, Kathleen Turner and Michael C. Hall. The gala ceremony will be held in New York in May to announce the winners (insert image of a man on the edge of his seat here!).
Just out is the audio for The Unwanteds Island of Shipwrecks. From NYT best selling author Lisa Mcmann which I recorded last year. Love this clip from the opening!
https://soundcloud.com/simonschuster/island-of-shipwrecks-audiobook-excerpt For those who speak French or the ones like me whom were taught in high school and want to see how much they remember! I was recently asked to do an interview for a French online movie site. It seems they still love Seed of Chucky back in Europe! If you fancy a bit of Français here's the link...
